The mid-1990s saw her begin performing professionally and dancing with Boulder's Dinner Theatre and the Country Dinner Playhouse in Colorado. Later, in Minnesota in a small local theatre, she was a cast as a character in the mock documentary about beauty contests called Drop Dead Gorgeous. Her screen debut was a huge success with the role of an annoying but pleasant contestant, Janet relocating into Los Angeles where she began an acting career professionally.
